Vehbi Koç Foundation, Turkey's first private foundation, presents an award each year to an individual or institution that enhances quality of life in the fields of culture, education, or healthcare. This year, for the first time in the award’s history, we launched a comprehensive social campaign.
Given the prestige and impact of the Vehbi Koç Award, it is often referred to as “Turkey’s Nobel.” When we began working on promoting the 2014 award in the field of culture, our first step was to develop the communication strategy for the campaign.
Recognizing the power of the positive values the award embraces and represents, we saw that the best way to communicate its mission was by remembering the names of past recipients. Honoring this rich legacy alongside those who have carried it forward helped make the award’s vision more tangible to the public.
The social media campaign we designed both drew attention to the award’s history and sparked curiosity about who the new recipient would be. Professor Dr. Zeynep Çelik, known for her works combining architecture and history, was chosen as the 13th recipient of the Vehbi Koç Award. A faculty member at the College of Architecture and Design at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Prof. Dr. Zeynep Çelik’s success was announced through a campaign that highlighted her perspective, incorporating quotes and thoughts in her own words.
In doing so, we perhaps introduced, for the first time, the recipient of the Vehbi Koç Award in such a detailed and engaging manner.
