We chose the name Sebastiyan, we designed its corporate identity... Next we had an idea to make its launch extra special.
The brand launch was of course within the communications strategy we developed for Mynet’s video portal, Sebastiyan, but we weren’t done yet. As a video platform, while we were thinking of ways to strengthen the position of Sebastiyan, we knew the secret was going to be hidden in original content. So we developed Turkey’s first web series.
To develop this series, we recommended Feyyaz Yiğit. The fruit of this collaboration was the series “Feyyaz”. Until then, only a few individuals had produced web series in Turkey, and these were by no means professional. So, we introduced this new format to viewers through this original production on Sebastiyan.
Sebastiyan opened the door for many web series after the introduction of “Feyyaz”. With the launch complete, Mynet was no longer just a platform, it also appealed to users as a broadcaster too. This original content opened a new source of revenue through product placement, as Feyyaz himself explains in the video below.
The web series format is now at the height of its popularity, and now you know the story of how it started in Turkey.
