While the Mustafa V. Koç Award, whose concept, identity, organization and speech texts were all our work, was awarded for the 3rd time, our invitation organization and event design received a lot of applause in addition to the winning athlete.
The third winner of the Mustafa V. Koç Sports Award, distributed by Koç Holding in memory of businessman and philanthropist Mustafa V. Koç in cooperation with the Turkish National Olympic Committee, was İlke Özyüksel, who represented our country in the Olympics in modern pentathlon. At the award ceremony, guests enjoyed a night dedicated to Olympic values.
In 2017, when we designed the first Mustafa V. Koç Sports Award, our reference points were friendship, respect and excellence - in other words, core Olympic values. We were inspired by “friendship” for the circular seating arrangement of the event, “respect” for the performance stages and “excellence” for the illuminated, eye-catching design. The main theme anthem, written by world-renowned composer Tony Britten, played live by the orchestra, gave the ceremony its soul. This year, we kept the same mindset and flow and held the award ceremony with Savaş Karakaş as the emcee.
This year's guest of honor was world record swimmer Kirsty Coventry from Zimbabwe. Before the announcement of the award, guests watched Anastasiia Tyshchenko's breathtaking performance in the aerial hoop. Fikret Ünlü, our recently deceased former Minister of State for Youth and Sports, was also remembered with a special composition by our conductor Özgür Sevinç.
Of course, the most exciting moment of the ceremony was when Caroline Koç announced the winning athlete. After receiving her award, İlke Özyüksel gave an unforgettable speech that moved everyone in the hall to tears.
In its third year, the Mustafa V. Koç Sports Award has taken an important step towards becoming one of the most prestigious sports awards in Turkey. There is no doubt that it is already the dream of many athletes.
