This year marks the inaugural Mustafa V. Koç Sports Awards, with the first recipients being National Archer Gizem Girişmen and National Wrestler Taha Akgül. Bringing their inspiring stories to the screen has been a true honor for us.
Gizem Girişmen is a fearless young archer who turned her challenges into triumphs. Taha Akgül is a passionate wrestler whose determination carried him to the pinnacle of his sport.
These two athletes make Turkey proud—not just for their Olympic success, but for the powerful journeys that brought them there. Capturing the authenticity of those extraordinary stories was essential. At the same time, the film needed to reflect the meaning and spirit of the award, making it a central moment of the ceremony.
Directed by Eylem Kaftan, the film shares Gizem and Taha’s stories in their own voices, supported by their families, teachers, and friends. A third-person narrator weaves the broader themes together. We followed their individual paths—unaware of one another—until they finally converge at the summit.
They moved us deeply, and we believe they’ll inspire you just as profoundly.
