When Mynet decided to launch Turkey’s first legal video platform, we teamed up to create a brand from scratch. Just like its name, Sebastiyan.com’s brand identity turned out to be witty, colorful, and fun.
Sebastiyan, Turkey’s first legal video platform, was launched as Mynet’s bold new venture. The goal was to bring video viewers together on a single platform and deliver the best possible viewing experience through a user-friendly interface. What inspired the name "Sebastiyan" was exactly this generous, welcoming approach.
The brand’s visual identity, designed by Jülide Lokman, stood out from the very first glance with its unique color palette and graphic style. The icon of Sebastiyan became the classic grandpa armchair—what first comes to mind when you think of watching TV. Naturally, it had to have a lace doily on it. Inspired by the idea that everyone’s armchair is different, a set of personalized icons was created for users. The lace detail made its way into everything—from envelopes to opening credits. To avoid a purely retro look, however, modern typefaces compatible with new technologies were carefully chosen.
We laid the foundation, then handed the development of the brand identity over to the platform’s users. They were invited to build on the base elements and make their own contributions to the identity.
Here’s to Sebastiyan—may its journey be smooth and its service one of a kind.
